  41. BRIEF HISTORY
  42. Although credited to Samuel Morse, the Morse Code system was actually developed by his colleague Stephen Vail who improved on Morse's ideas, constructing the first internationally accepted message code that we use today.
  43. The first message transmitted using this code was on May 24, 1844 between Washington, DC, and Baltimore.
